OVERVIEW OF THE TRAINING
EMDR Basic Training is more than learning a technique — it is an immersive, practice-based training designed to help clinicians confidently integrate EMDR therapy into their clinical work.
Based on the original training model developed by Francine Shapiro and the curriculum of the EMDR Institute, participants learn the foundations, structure, and clinical application of EMDR therapy through teaching, live demonstrations, supervised practice, and case consultation.
During the training, you will learn:
-
The Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model — the theoretical foundation of EMDR therapy
-
The complete 8 phases of EMDR therapy
-
How to assess client readiness and develop safe, effective treatment plans
-
How to identify and target past experiences, present triggers, and future challenges
-
Preparation and stabilisation skills to support emotional regulation and safety
-
How to use bilateral stimulation effectively within EMDR reprocessing
-
How to work with trauma, anxiety, grief, adverse life experiences, attachment wounds, and complex presentations
-
How to recognise and respond to blocked processing and dissociation
-
Practical strategies for integrating EMDR into everyday clinical practice
-
Applications of EMDR therapy across a wide range of client presentations and settings
The training is highly experiential. Participants observe live demonstrations, engage in supervised practicum in small groups throughout the training, and receive 5 hours of case consultation after each 3-day training. These experiential components supports the learning and the safe application of EMDR therapy with clients.
